Can You Create Art With Technology?

Yes I believe you can create art with technology because that’s exactly how movie editing works. Not only movie editing but any means to capture an image whether that be film, photography, or drawing is a form of technology. Obviously the video cameras and digital cameras are technology but so are the canvases that people draw on and the utensils designed to draw on them. I think that the only form of art that doesn’t involve technology is just singing,  without a microphone or anything to make your voice louder. The more we move forward with AI and other advanced technologies the closer we get to being able to answer if technology can create art by itself without human input. I think that will be the final evolution of art and shortly after technology starts creating it’s own art then it will be extremely hard to create an original art piece because not only will an artist be competing against other artists but now also extremely advanced AI.

What if the World is a Simulation?

It’s been said that it’s more likely than not that the world is a simulation. So what if it is though? If people found out that everything they know is a simulation what would it change? It’s not like people would be able to break out of that simulation so what’s the point in worrying if the world is one or not? You would still live out your life just as anyone else the only difference being that being inside a simulation might give your life less meaning. Because, even in reality, in the grand scheme of things the individual person has very little affect or meaning to the world or universe as a whole. If it was all a simulation that would give the individual even less affect or meaning on the world or universe because their world or universe would be a simulation, having no real affect on reality. So I would rather live out my life not knowing whether I’m in a simulation or not.

Xerox assignment

For my Xerox assignment I took a scan of my face and then went in and cut it up in editing and hung the different sections of my face from the ceiling. I thought that this piece of art resembled a cubist work of art.

Electronics

It is very interesting to learn where things came from, for my paper I wanted to go back with the computer. The computer started with Alan Turing creating a machine to break the enigma's code. The enigma was used by the nazi's to code messages during the war. I think that this technology is headed towards people having being able to access the internet 24/7 instantly from wherever they are in the world. After that is achieved I believe the next generation would be quantum computers, which could send data instantly across any distance.

Performance art

For my performance art piece I taped my phone to my face and walked through the common area near Austin hall. I did this as a metaphor for how some people live their entire lives through their phones.

Grid Art

In making my skittle art I had an appreciation for how calming making the art was. It was very fun to focus on just setting everything up and not taking breaks to check my phone or something along those lines.
